Due to popular demand Mellow Drama will be performing an extra show of the hit comedy An Evening with Gary Linker at the Manoel Theatre this Saturday.

Booking is now open for the show that features John Montanaro, Julia Calvert, Steve Casaletto, Faye Paris and Michael Zammit Maempel.

The story of the play revolves around a group of English tourists on holiday in Majorca during the 1990 World Cup. A couple, Bill and Monica, are supposed to be trying to rekindle their marriage but the football keeps getting in the way.

Added to that is the inconvenience of Ian, Bill’s friend who they just can’t seem to get rid of, and Dan, Monica’s lover, who turns up unexpectedly just in time for the semi-final between England and West Germany.

If that wasn’t enough, a gorgeous German tour rep. called Birgitta also decides to watch the match with them, despite being outnumbered four to one by England supporters.

Written by leading authors Chris England and Arthur Smith, An Evening with Gary Linker is a fast, witty and passionate look at the role football plays in all our lives.

It has been described by The Evening Standard as “one of the year’s sharpest and funniest comedies” and was nominated for the Perrier Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
