The Investment, Industry & IT Ministry has reached a tripartite agreement with Sunbelt Software of France and Shireburn Co Ltd of Malta.

Through this agreement, Sunbelt Software, EMEA distributors for Double-Take, will provide a defined number of licences and maintenance for the software for usage within the Maltese government infrastructure through MITTS while Shireburn Co Ltd, Malta distributors, will provide implementation and support services.

These licences and services are being provided free of charge to the government to mark the official launch of the Double-Take solution on the Malta market.

The Double-Take software and licences were presented to Minister Austin by Sunbelt Software’s business development manager, Peter Doens, in the presence of directors of Shireburn, John de Giorgio and Franco Galea.

“Sunbelt Software recognises the strong focus on IT that the Maltese government is placing, both in terms of its usage as well as a driver for economic growth, and this has attracted Sunbelt’s attention on Malta,” said Peter Doens.

“As the leading business continuity solution for Windows infrastructures, we felt we should mark the launch of our solutions in Malta by the donation of these licenses to government to ensure the highest levels of business continuity of the government’s IT infrastructure.”

Shireburn Co Ltd, local distributors for Double-Take, will be providing technical assistance and implementation support to MITTS to ensure the highest value from the usage of these licences.

“We are thrilled to be able to assist government in this way seeding the awareness of the need to plan and implement business continuity and disaster recovery on a national level,” said Shireburn’s managing director, John de Giorgio.
