A concert was organised by Ludwig Galea at Baystreet Complex in aid of Appogg Children’s Fund. Ludwig Galea teamed up with other local singers and dancers including Lawrence Gray, Debbie Scerri, J Anvil, Anabelle Debono, Fiona, Isadora, Philisianne Brincat, Kylie and Klinsmann Coleiro amongst others to raise funds to help children in need. John Busuttil and Nathal Attard Baylis were the presenters at the concert.

Yvonne Mallia, the Operations Director of Agenzija Appogg thanked all the members of the public who contributed together with Ludwig and friends, to raise funds for this good cause. She also thanked Ludwig Galea for organising this event as well as the two presenters, all the singers and dancers who participated voluntarily to help children in need and to Baystreet Complex who provided the venue. Thanks to all these kind and generous people, Lm238.38 were collected during this event.

Appogg Children’s Fund aims to support children who lack basic needs and are at risk of being excluded from their peers due to their limited means. Lm2,684 were collected in 2005 for the agency’s Children’s Fund.

The Children’s Fund, which was established in 2004, has so far provided support to a number of children, who have been helped to ensure that they remain engaged with their peers and also relieving the burden that some families or carers experience when they are unable to afford certain basic and/or specialized needs. The nature of the Fund requires that children are the direct beneficiaries of all support given.

For this year, the group of volunteers committed to help in raising such funds, have another series of activities planned. A football tournament among staff members will be held today at St Martin’s College in Swatar from 2pm onwards. The public is encouraged to attend and support this activity. Entrance fee is 50c.
