Four skips at a bring-in site next to St Paul’s Bay primary school were thrown into the sea by unidentified people on the night between Thursday and yesterday.
A low wall behind the skips was pulled down and the skips were pushed over one by one into the sea – a height of three storeys. On impact in the sea, or the nearby rocks, the skips were either smashed or their lids were opened, with the result that the waste they contained ended up in the sea.
Greenline Environment Services were informed about the act of vandalism at about 6am and people were sent to the scene to clear up the mess before children began arriving for school.
A report was filed at Qawra police station.
Every skip costs some Lm250, meaning that the total value of all four skips is over Lm1,000.
