Neptunes should win today’s encounter against bottom-placed Marsaxlokk without any difficulty this afternoon.
The Balluta Bay sides is currently leading the standings together with their arch rivals Sliema with 10 points each. But Neptunes have today’s game in hand, after which both teams will have just one more match to play to determine the winners of this year’s competition.
In the final encounter, Neptunes are to face St Paul’s Bay side Sirens, while Sliema are scheduled to meet San Giljan.
Neptunes’ opponents today have not won a match of the seven they have played and it looks likely that Neptunes will register another big score.
In the second match on today’s card, Sirens face San Giljan.
The two teams have six points each and will be looking forward to win to take sole command of the third place in the standings.
Neither of the two clubs can win this year’s winter title, but this competition has served both as good preparation for the more popular summer league.
