Guitar Concert at Bir Miftuh

The second concert in the Bir Miftuh International Music Festival, organised by Din l-Art Helwa, is a guitar concert by Thibault Cauvin, on Saturday, 27 May.

The event has been made possible with the support of the French Embassy and the Alliance Française.

Thibault Cauvin is considered to be one of the most gifted guitarists of his generation. He began learning classical guitar at the age of six and then pursued his studies for a solo career at the Conservatoire de Bordeaux, where he won the gold medal and medal of honour and at the Conservatoire de Paris.

By the age of 20 he had already won 13 international first prizes, including the San Francisco International Classical Guitar Competition, the Vienna International Guitar Competition and the Alexandre Lagoya Guitar Competition.

He has performed at numerous concerts and prestigious festivals in Europe, the USA, Canada, Turkey, Morocco and Libya, has recorded for radio stations in France, the USA and other countries, and has a number of CDs to his credit. In the press, he has been hailed as “One of the best classical guitarists that France has ever known”.

During the concert he will entertain his audience with works by Domenico Scarlatti, Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Dusan Bogdanovic, Mauro Giuliani, Lennox Berkeley and Carlo Domeniconi.

The concert starts at 8pm and tickets cost Lm8 per person, including refreshments, which will be served after the performance.

All the money raised will be dedicated to the many Din l-Art Helwa restoration projects of the heritage sites it holds in trust for the nation.
