There was a total of 20,497 small marine vessels registered with Transport Malta as of the end of April 2025, Transport Minister Chris Bonett said.

Bonett was replying to a parliamentary question made by PN MP Ivan Bartolo who asked him to state how many yachts are registered with Transport Malta.

Bonett said that as of the end of April 2025, there were 5,942 yachts (under 24 metres) registered under the Merchant Shipping Act through the Merchant Shipping Directorate within Transport Malta. Meanwhile, as of the end of April 2025, there were 14,555 vessels actively registered in the Small Ships Registry, which is managed by the Ports and Yachting Directorate within Transport Malta.
