Xtruppaw To Launch Debut Album

Malta Independent Sunday, 14 May 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Local band Xtruppaw is about to release the long awaited debut album, which will bear the title “Is-CD ta’ l-iXtruppaw.”

The official launch will be held on 2 June, at the Luxol Sports Bar, St. Andrew’s, and will feature another two local supporting bands, BNI (Batteries Not Included) and Dripht.

The full-length CD album features a kaleidoscope of musical styles which will take the listener on a journey through the various facets of the Maltese culture. All this is highlighted with the ever present tongue-in-cheek Maltese lyrics and irreverent humour that is now synonymous with Xtruppaw, and which has captivated their fans during the colourful live performances.

The sixteen track album will contain a mix of old time favourites, such as studio quality versions of “ Malta” and “Generazzjoni ta’ Meqrudin”, and also a considerable number of brand new songs.

The band members commented, “Keeping our live gigs in mind and heart, we did our best to recreate the vibe that people are used to getting from our shows.”

A song from their album, “Diska Cool ghar-Radio,” will be released as an official single and will be distributed to radio stations and to several other venues for promotion. The song will also be available for download from the band’s website (www.xtruppaw.com).

The CD was recorded, mixed and mastered by Steve Lombardo Attard at his Hell Next Door Studio, and will be released under the local label Reciprocal Records. For more information visit the band’s website www.xtruppaw.com.
