Improved Service to in-patients at Gozo General Hospital

Malta Independent Thursday, 18 May 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

In-patients at the Gozo General Hospital are now offered a much improved service as the hospital catering system has been completely transformed in recent weeks. This was stated yesterday by Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono during the inauguration of the new hospital pre-plating catering system.

Minister Giovanna Debono praised the hospital administration for implementing several necessary changes at the Gozo General Hospital, including the upgrading and the modernisation of both facilities and services offered. The new pre-plating catering system follows the recent inauguration of a new Gynaecology ward and the modernisation of the maternity ward and the doctors’ quarters late last year.

The new pre-plating catering system brings about a more hygienic method for food preparation and presentation, adding quality in taste and presentation of the food on offer from the hospital kitchen.

Minister Debono said that the ministry’s investment during the last seven years into improving the health and its ancillary services on the island is now bearing fruit with the upgrading of all the hospital’s wards, the introduction of new services and the stepping-up of existing services, although one can continue to invest more.

Minister Debono said that her ministry is committed towards improving the quality of life of patients – whether in-patients or out-patients – at the hospital, immaterial their length of stay. The new pre-plating catering system, officially launched today, will go a long way towards improving the quality of service offered to the patients at the Gozo General Hospital. Minister Debono reminded that this new pre-plating catering system is the first of its kind to cater for a whole government-owned hospital on the Maltese Islands.
