A man was yesterday charged with stealing three watches from a jewellery shop in Valletta.

Claudio Calleja, 24, pleaded not guilty to stealing three watches from Sterling Jewellers on 17 May in Valletta after being caught red handed. He was also accused of relapsing in view of previous convictions.

The accused requested bail, but the court, presided over by magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera turned it down. Police inspectors Pierre Micallef-Grimaud and Raymond Cassar prosecuted.
