In a parliamentary question to the Communications Minister and to the vice-minister for Italians living abroad, Arnold Cassola, MP in the Italian parliament, brought up the issue of the football matches that are normally shown on RAI TV but are systematically blackened out abroad.
Prof. Cassola pointed out that some television cable companies abroad have already started not to transmit sports programmes by RAI, despite the fact that, it would seem, clients would have already bought a TV package that includes all RAI transmissions.
It would also seem that these companies are asking their clients for supplementary payments in order to watch the football matches transmitted by RAI.
Prof Cassola has asked the Italian ministers if they are aware of such a situation and also asked them what they intend to do about it, in order to redress what seems to be a clear flouting of EU and national laws.
