Guzi Grech and Simon Camilleri will contest the Final of the Pro Am tournament after defeating Thurston Grixti and Alex Borg in the semi-finals respectively.

In the first semi-final, Guzi Grech beat 15-year old Thurston Grixti 5-1 (74-80, 81-60, 78-67, 84-76, 83-60, 76-70). Grech won three of his frames on the black. The match took a good three hours duration as all the frames were close.

Grech managed two breaks of 63 and 42 while Grixti managed a 36 break in the last frame.

In the other semi-final, Simon Camilleri beat Alex Borg, the holder of last year’s Pro Am title, 5-4 in another tough match. The frame results (Camilleri first) were: 67-40, 78-1, 13-60, 53-52, 24-74, 47-84, 39-47, 69-58, 71-11.

Alex Borg managed a break of 53 while Simon Camilleri had a 44.

The final and the match for third and fourth place will be played on Monday 29 May at Balluta Band Club in Sliema. The match for third place between Alex Borg and Thurston Grixti will be played at 4.30pm while the final will start at 6.30pm.
