Neptunes need just one point from today’s final match against Sirens to be crowned Wilkinson Sword winter champions.

At present, they enjoy a two–point lead over Sliema in the standings with the Blues meeting San Giljan in the first match on the programme today.

A defeat for Neptunes and a victory for Sliema means that the two big rivals in local waterpolo will have to meet in a decider today week to see who will emerge as this year’s winter champions.

In actual fact, both Neptunes and Sliema are expected to win their matches today.

However, Neptunes will have to be on full alert for Sirens, on their day, could be on a par with the league leaders and can offer some veritable resistance.

Neptunes will start as hot favourites to ontain their first draw of the campaign and clinch this year’s winter title.
