Football: Msida SJ’s Daniel Nwoke May have a trial in Finland

Malta Independent Wednesday, 24 May 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 19 years ago

Msida’s Nigerian striker Daniel Nwoke is at present on holiday in Finland where he might also be involved in a trial with a top Finnish club.

Msida are reluctant to part company with any of their foreign players, but if a good offer arrives, they will not be standing in their way.

The Malta Independent is informed that Nwoke is also a prime target for Sliema Wanderers and perhaps, Marsaxlokk, as well.

Sliema have been showing regular interest in the striker and coach Edward Aquilina recently said he admired the player’s skills, giving a hint that he had already studied the player well to see whether he would fit into his plans in the Wanderers’ camp.

On the other hand, Marsaxlokk had shown interest in the past winter, but it is still to be seen whether new coach Brian Talbot will insist on Nwoke. In fact, it is likely that Marsaxlokk’s new foreigners will be British players.

Nwoke finished as the best foreign scorer in the Bank of Valletta Premier League this season. He scored 16 goals (no penalties). The previous season he scored 14 and another 13 in his first full season at Msida.
