Malta will be taking part in the FIBA Europe's Promotion Cup for men to be held next week in Albania between the 29th May and the 3rd June

The Maltese national team has been preparing for this competition for the last year under national coach Bruno Di Pietrantonio. In the last weeks as soon as the national league was over the national team trained daily to ensure that the best possible results are obtained in this competition.

The final selection, still to be decided by Di Pietrantonio, will be made from the following players:

Luxol: Silvio Cassar, Dirk Schembri, Steve Schembri, Chris Sammut

Pembroke: Michael Naudi, Etienne Bezzina, Adrian Micallef, Kristin Baldacchino

Hamrun: Omar Said

Siggiewi: Peter Shoults, Jean Paul Bonnici

The national coach said that he's very confident that the work done in the last months, will at the end be fruitful for the national team and for the Maltese Basketball in general. He confirmed that despite the young average age of this team, there are many players with a lot of international experience.

Malta has been drawn in Group A and will face Andorra (2pm) in the first match on 29 May and then Moldova (2 pm) and Gibraltar (6pm) on the days following.

The placing games will be played between 2nd and 3rd June.

Group B is made up of San Marino, Wales, Azerbaijan and hosts Albania.
