The Malta Shooting Federation is organizing The Malta International Trap Grand Prix 2006 over the weekend.
Following the opening cermony which was held yesterday at the MSF ranges in Bidnija, today is the first day of the competition where each shooter will shoot for 50 clays trap.
Tomorrow, the second day there will be the next 50 clays trap and on Sunday morning another 25 clays for a total of 125.
The best six shooters will be selected to shoot 25 clays in the barrage finals on Sunday afternoon.
The presentation ceremony will be held in Bidnija on Sunday at 8pm followed by a barbeque for all local and foregn participants.
The first prize carries $700, the second $300 ,the third $150 and $100 each for the fourth, fifth and sixth placed.
Apart from the Maltese shooters there are shooters from Italy and Great Britain taking part.
Most of the foreign shooters arrived in Malta last Tuesday where they have been training along with the locals.
This event will serve the local talent to prepare for foreign encounters in the near future.
