Luxol St Andrew’s inaugurated their main stadium last Friday. It is the main football field in a complex which also comprises five other smaller pitches which house the crowded, albeit very popular nursery of the forward-looking club.

The club has invested around Lm350,000 in this new facility and the sum includes the artificial turf surface which has been laid by Steel & Fence Ltd, under the direction of Mario Attard. It also includes the floodlighting system.

Fr Hilary Tagliaferro, chairperson of the Youth FA, and who had helped Luxol St Andrew’s so much in the past, inaugurated the club in the presence of several distinguished guests, among them the Prime Minister, Dr Lawrence Gonzi and some Government Ministers, Members of Parliament, and MFA President Dr Joseph Mifsud.

The programme included a short match between the Old Stars from the club’s nursery, including players of Birkirkara, Valletta and Sliema, among others, and a selection of St Andrew’s FC. It was followed by another match between the St Andrew’s Under 16 side and the MFA Under 15.

The Stadium has a capacity of between 600 and 700 (seated). The facilities include three dressing rooms for players, a small one for referees, a bar and an office.
