Two Libyan men were yesterday charged with importing into Malta a sum equivalent to more than Lm5,000 without informing the Comptroller of Customs.
Hazem Mohamed Hilal, 31, pleaded not guilty to importing the sum of money on flight KM695 from Tripoli on 23 May.
Tarek Rajab Hlal, also 31, pleaded not guilty to being an accomplice. The court, presided over by magistrate Giovanni Grixti, set bail against personal guarantees of Lm1,000 for each of the accused.
Police inspectors Romina Veneziani and Joseph Cordina prosecuted while Dr Chris Cardona, Dr Roberto Montalto and Dr Jose Herrera appeared for the defendants.
