Man Accused of trafficking ecstasy and cocaine

A man yesterday appeared in court to face charges of drug trafficking and of being in possession of counterfeit money.

Edward Zahra, 22, of Birkirkara, pleaded not guilty to the possession of 100 ecstasy pills and about 20 grammes of cocaine before and on 31 May in circumstances indicating they were not for his own personal use.

He is also accused of being in possession of 32 fake Lm10 notes. The court, presided over by magistrate Miriam Hayman, set bail against a deposit of Lm500 and a personal guarantee of Lm2,000.

Police inspector Norbert Ciappara prosecuted.
