A special stage is being set up on which the presentation ceremony at next Sunday’s Replay Gala Night will be held.

It is being constructed on a barge in the form of a football pitch complete with goalposts and lines. It will be berthed at the lagoon of the Viset Valletta Waterfront where the ceremony is being held.

Robert Cutajar, one of the organisers, said yesterday that around 300 guests – all by invitation – will be attending during which even The Malta Independent will be presenting a trophy to The Best Player of the Year according to its football correspondents.

The barge will be one of the main attractions of the event. It will also be on show on Saturday and at 10am, some of the finalists will also be involved in a small exhibition on it as it leaves the main quay to berth in the lagoon.

The Gala Night is being screened live by Net TV from 8.30pm.

Spectators can follow proceedings from the lagoon stairs in front of the shops, on the opposite side of the Valletta Waterfront.
