A 27-year-old man and two teenagers yesterday denied attempting to steal from Convoy Bar at the Luqa Industrial Estate and damaging the bar at around 2am on Wednesday morning.
Etienne Mizzi, 27, from Qormi as well as a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old, both from Qormi, pleaded not guilty to attempting to steal from the bar.
The 17-year-old was also charged with driving a car without a driving licence or insurance cover. Etienne Mizzi and the 17-year-old were also accused of buying the car without informing the police about the sale and of relapsing.
Magistrate Antonio Mizzi granted the teenagers bail against a deposit of Lm100 and a personal guarantee of Lm2,000. Magistrate Mizzi turned down Mizzi’s request for bail and was remanded in custody.
Police inspectors Carmelo Magri and Jesmond Borg prosecuted. Dr Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi appeared for Mizzi while Dr Franco Debono appeared for the other two accused.
