The Maltese national juniors team booked a place in the semi-finals of the world championships being held in Blackpool, England.

The important victory came against Wales where Miguel Falzon secured the decisive frame in a narrow 8-7 victory.

Earlier in the day the Maltese side lost twice – against Australia 8-7 and against England 10-5. With one game to the end of the round robin stages against Spain, the Maltese juniors have already secured their place in the semi-finals.

The Men’s national team was in action twice during the day. Malta lost to leaders Wales 12-9 and soon after lost to current world champions England in a terrific ending 11-10 game.

With five games to go in the round robin stages the Maltese team still stands a good chance to qualify for the play-off stages.
