Snooker: Alex Borg Maintains unbeaten record

Alex Borg continued the defence of his European title when he won his third consecutive match from Group A in the 2006 European Snooker Championships currently being held in Constanta, Romania. Borg recovered from the loss of the first two frames to beat Anthony Brabin of Cyprus 4-2.

Brabin won the first frame on the black 48-59 and added the second 41-74 with a break of 52. However Borg, made a good comeback winning the next four frames with some fine potting which included breaks of 48, 53 and 62 in the last frame to win 4-2.

Frame scores, Borg first: 48-59, 41-74(52), 72(53)-0, 77(48)-38, 67-53 and 103(62)-12.

Borg’s next match is today at 12.30pm, against Juha Erkinmikko of Finland.

Meanwhile, in Group E, Simon Zammit received a walkover against the Romanian player Cristi Adonicioaie when the latter was forced to withdraw through illness. This was Zammit’s second win from as many matches.
