Charlotte Bellizzi is presenting a selection of abstract works at Del Borgo wine bar, Vittoriosa during the month of June.
A professional paintings conservator/ restorer, she has been painting for a long time but only started exhibiting recently.
For her artwork she uses acrylics since they tend to be fast drying and as well produce interesting effects. She applies the paint with vigour using a vibrant selection of colours almost reminiscent of the Fauvist movement.
The paintings tackle different themes including perky subjects such as Lust and Serendipity, but also abstract landscapes such as St Paul’s Islands and Dawn at Mtahleb.
The artist plays with the spectator amid paintings such as Cherry Blossom, which from a distance seem to represent a flowered branch but is made up from just dabs of pure colour on closer inspection.
In other paintings like Creation and Lost Paradise, the title is only indicative on how the paintings should be viewed but the spectator is invited to see whatever her/his imagination dictates.
