The Association of Tractors & Trailers Owners/Operators (ATTO) welcomes the news that a Bill that will incorporate the CMR Convention is being discussed in Parliament.
The ATTO has been requesting such rules to be implemented for years now, the association said in a statement.
The rules contained in the CMR Convention will clarify the position of international hauliers in general and will make it very much easier for the local courts to interpret legal and factual issues in accordance with this international road transport convention.
Before this Act is actually passed, there will remain legal uncertainty as to what rules are applicable to international road transport.
For these reasons, the ATTO is looking forward to have this new Act passed through Parliament without delay, the statement concluded.
