Maltacom’s new board has appointed a new chief executive officer and it has reconfirmed the company secretary, the company announced yesterday on The Malta Stock Exchange.
The newly-appointed Maltacom CEO, David Kay assumed responsibilities as of yesterday. Mr Kay will have "the overall responsibility for ensuring the execution of the company’s policies as established by the board of directors" according to yesterday’s company announcement.
Mr Kay is an economics graduate and is a member of the Chartered Accountants of England and Wales. Over the years he has held senior financial and general management positions in the Cable and Wireless Group of Companies in the UK, Hong Kong, Latvia and Macao, while he also held non-executive directorships in telecommunications companies in Fiji, Indonesia and China.
Maltacom yesterday also reconfirmed Dr Francis Galea Salomone as company secretary – a post he has held since June 2005.
The appointment of a CEO comes soon after the appointment of a new board by the new owners Tecom Investments, which included individuals such as a former vice-president of the France Telecom Group; a former president and chief executive officer of MSNBC.com; the individual responsible for Dubai’s knowledge clusters of Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City and Knowledge Village; and a former Goldman Sachs vice-president.
