The headmaster of Maria Assunta Girls’ School was cleared yesterday of assaulting and slightly injuring a student.
Raymond Vella, 49, from Attard was cleared of assaulting and slightly injuring Donna Maria Stone on 29 April 2005 at 12.15pm within the school.
The court, presided over by magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna, said it was not at all convinced of the veracity of the testimonies of parte civile witnesses in the case.
He said that the court could also not understand why the girl’s mother did not take her to a doctor after the alleged incident took place.
The court therefore cleared the accused of all charges. Police inspector Mario Bonello prosecuted.
