In front of a sizeable crowd who preferred tennis to football, Matthew Asciak clinched the Marsa Sports Club singles title, beating Mattia Pecotic in straight sets.

In the first set Asciak cruised along beating his opponent 6/1. In the second set Pecotic produced some fine shots and looked like forcing the match into a third set; however Asciak got the best of the tiebreak to win the second and final set 7/6.

Earlier in the week, father and son Gordon and Matthew Asciak beat the Delicata brothers, Daryl and Marcus, to win the doubles title.

Present for the presentation of prizes were Mr James Stagno Navarra for British Airways, MTF President Mr Tony Cilia Pisani, Marsa Sports Club Chairman Mr Ralph Asciak and Mr Godwin Borg, Chairman Tennis section.
