More than 6,000 fake branded World Cup footballs were confiscated by Customs officials yesterday.
Nearly 30,000 footballs have been confiscated over the past two weeks.
The latest consignment was found in a container that was on its way to Mexico, Customs officials said in a statement yesterday.
The Department said it had noticed some discrepancies in the shipment’s bill of lading and decided to seize the container for further investigation.
On examining the contents of the container, Customs officials found more than 6,000 fake World Cup footballs.
