Educational Summer club for children

Malta Independent Wednesday, 21 June 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

Heritage Malta and Kidstart Summer Club are offering a unique summer programme, Kidstart FunPlus for kids who in May-June 2007 will be sitting for their Junior Lyceum and Common Entrance examinations, in response to requests from parents of kids of this age-group.

After working hard at school for nine months children need to relax, doing fun activities with their friends in a safe and welcoming environment, supported by instructors who are qualified and dedicated.

There is however a particular category of kids for whom it is important to keep up with their studies during the summer. Kidstart FunPlus will run between the 11 July and 7 September and is a three-day per week (Tues-Wed-Thurs) programme which includes a weekly cultural outing that will allow the children to have direct experience of many aspects of their social studies syllabus.

The kids will also have weekly fun with food and pool sessions.

The academic aspect of this programme will be devoted to revision of the syllabus for the above-mentioned examinations. Methods used will be highly interactive, using games to encourage the kids to think and develop their skills in a fun way. Some homework will be assigned from one week to the next and a report on the progress of each child will be given to the parents/guardians who will also have the opportunity to meet with the teacher at the end of the programme.

Kidstart Summer Club, apart from the above, runs programmes for children aged between 2 and 11 with a special Kidstart Teens Club for 12-14 year olds.
