Another coach from the Czech Republic, Michal Striz, has been appointed by the MFA as the national Futsal (five-a-side) football coach.
Striz, 44, was born in the capital Prague and has had a long career as a Futsal player. In fact, he played for Saturn Brno, Plumbum Hradec Kralove and Eta Hlinso between 1977 and 1996.
As a coach he started in 1992 with Plumbum where he remained till 1996. Then he joined Viktoria Zizkov. He also worked for Nejzbach Vysoke Myto and Doukas Athene of Greece before being appointed assistant coach of the Czech team in 1996. Between 1998 and 2005, he was the head coach of the Czech national team.
In 1994 he was voted best player of the Czech Republic. He won the national Futsal title with Saturn Brno in 1988 and with Viktoria Zizkov in 1999.
He has played 26 matches for the national team, scoring 16 goals, between 1990 and 1995.
He was voted best coach of the Czech Republic every year between 1998 and 2004.
