Malta Independent Thursday, 22 June 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

A total of Lm13,895 was collected during the Vodafone Malta Foundation Family Day, which was organised at Ghadira Bay some weeks ago.

On Monday, Vodafone Malta Foundation chairperson Gemma Mifsud Bonnici and Daniel Abela presented a cheque to the Eden Foundation and Caritas Malta. Some of the funds were also donated to leading paediatric cardiologist Dr Victor Grech to go towards the setting up of Malta’s first electronic medical journal.

“Through this event, the Vodafone Malta Foundation would like to show its appreciation of the dedication shown by these associations in their mission. We believe that we should all work together to help those in need in the Maltese community. We hope that our initiative encourages more companies to follow our example in the near future,” said Mrs Mifsud Bonnici, adding: “We look forward to organising a similar event next year.”

On 21 May, more than 3,000 people joined in the Vodafone Malta Foundation Family Day activities that included, among many other things, a beach soccer tournament and pony rides. These activities were held in conjunction with Unesco’s celebrations to mark the International Day for the Family.

The highlight of the event was Daniel Abela’s successful attempt to cross the 1.2 kilometre-wide Ghadira Bay underwater and back.

Eden Foundation CEO, Vince Borg thanked Daniel Abela and the Vodafone Malta Foundation for their support.
