A man was fined Lm500 after he pleaded guilty to employing five English women who did not have a work permit and for running a commercial venue without a licence.
Joseph Schembri, 40, from Siggiewi, pleaded guilty to employing Charlotte Litten, Victoria Taylor, Janet Helena Bishop, Kerry-Ann Quinn and Rebecca Louise Palmer in a commercial outlet in St Paul’s Bay.
He was also found guilty of running the outlet without the required licence and with relapsing.
Upon hearing him plead guilty to all the charges brought against him, magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna fined him Lm500.
Police inspectors Raymond Aquilina and Therese Sciberras prosecuted.
