Another success story for Kunsill Malti ghall-iSport and its close collaboration with various sport associations and clubs. With the introducation of Go-Karting in the Skolasport's programme a few years ago, the first ever Skolasport go-karting mini championship was organised at Ta’ Qali Raceway recently Edwin Gauci, the man behind the Badger Go-Karting Club announced the winners of each category. The championship consisted of five races with seven categories.

In Category A, Michael Callus was placed first, Andrea Vella came in second and Daniel Zarb in third place. J.P Chetcuti came in first in Category B, with Brian Chetcuti in second place and Jeanluke Dingli in third. Category C was won by Keith Baldwin, whilst Gregory Gatt came in second and Anthony Buhagiar placed third. Christian Sharpe came in first in Category D, Clydon Falzon came second and Kevin Busuttil obtained third place.

In Category E, James Degiorgo won first place, whilst Trevis Xuereb and Matthew Scerri placed second and third respectively. Andre Delicata came in first place in Category F, with Daniel Aquilina in second place and Alison Calleja in third. Dwayne Difesa won first place in Category G, John Peel came in second and Nigel Mifsud in third place.

Skolasport, sponsored by Kellogg’s for the eighth consecutive year, has introduced the karting programme three years ago, to students at a young age with the aim of breeding a generation of enthusiasts for the development of this innovative sport.

The kart drivers were awarded points according to their finishing position. On the fifth and final race the top three drivers from each category were awarded trophies, which were presented by Mr. Andrew Decelis, Director of Kunsill Malti ghall-iSport.

This year 2005/06 the programme had a total of 75 regular participants. Kellogg's sponsored Skolasport will resume on Saturday 14 October.
