Two prime authorities seem to be in competition between them who pays more for the rent of their office space.
According to separate replies given in Parliament yesterday, the Malta Communications Authority pays Lm2,533 per month to Viset for its office lease at the Waterfront.
The Malta Resources Authority pays Lm2,398 per month for the lease of its office space in Marsa.
Ministers Censu Galea and Ninu Zammit respectively were replying to similar questions by Labour MP Joe Debono Grech.
The rents paid for other places used as government offices, warehouses etc were listed in other replies but certainly the most quaint regards the lease for police stations which is ridiculously low, ranging from 75c per month for the Gharb, Nadur and Xewkija police stations to Lm3.75 per month for the St Julian’s police station.
