The MFA is expected to announce the 2005/2006 Footballer of the Year this evening during its monthly Council meeting.

In preliminary voting held a few days ago, Michael Galea of Birkirkara was leading Andrew Cohen of Hibernians by just two points. They were the major two contestants for this season's award.

Other awards for all the remaining leagues will also be announced this evening.
