A van was set alight in Valletta in the early hours of Thursday morning the police said yesterday.

In a statement, the police said that persons unknown had poured flammable liquid on the bonnet of the vehicle and set it alight at about 3.30am. The police informed the Civil Protection Department who rushed to the scene and put out the fire. No one was hurt in the incident. Duty magistrate Denis Montebello appointed a number of court experts to assist him in drawing up an inquiry. Investigations continue.
