Maltese Safety Training Centre To represent European Fire Colleges

Malta Independent Friday, 30 June 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

The International Safety Training Centre of Hal Far (ISTC) has been chosen as the official representative of the European Fire Service Colleges’ Association (EFSCA) on the EU Leonardo Da Vinci Project Address.

ISTC managing director David Ghersci said that ISTC had been chosen as a direct result of the company’s international growth and because they were recently awarded full membership status.

Over the past six years, ISTC has gained valuable experience and knowledge about its fire and safety trainees, who originate from different cultural backgrounds such as Algeria, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, France, Greece, India, Italy, Korea, Libya, Mauritania, Romania, South Africa, Spain, Tunisia, the UK and Malta.

Mr Ghersci explained that, following membership and in recognition of ISTC’s wide international orientation, it had been unanimously agreed that it should be appointed to represent EFSCA at Address.

The intentions of the Address (Achieving and Delivering Diversity Results within the Emergency Services Sector) project are to design, develop and implement interventions and to promote diversity within the emergency services sector across Europe.

This will be effected through programmes specifically designed to enable trainers to deliver training courses for operational and managerial staff.
