As the third Commonwealth Championships continue in Melbourne, Australia, Malta is once again amongst the top awards after a fantastic display in the Ladies Doubles event put our team in the silver position. The championships are being contested by 16 Commonwealth nations, involving some top notch bowlers, each country fielding a team of four bowlers - two each in the male and female divisions.

Malta's ladies are Sue Abela and her sister Melissa Anastasi. They shot an excellent 2,349 in their six games (Abela 1,196 and Anastasi 1,153).

In the men's singles event, Malta's Ray Falzon Reale and Brian Farrugia, finished in 13th and 18th places respectively.

Play continues with the Team Event, and then the final Masters Stages involving the overall top male and female bowlers.

The Maltese team is supported by the MTBA, KMS and also the MOC. The Eden Leisure Group sponsors the MTBA's national coaching scheme, which has facilitated adequate preparation for team Malta prior to these Commonwealth Championships.
