EnKor’s next performance, at its summer concert, will truly be a special one. Among some other new pieces, the choir – performing in new tailor-made outfits – will be launching two new original EnKor compositions.
The colourful new robes have been designed specially for EnKor by Vanda Fsadni, a professional tailor who built her experience over the years in the Paris fashion scene. The design she has created, as well as the colours and fabric chosen, reflects the jovial spirit that unites the EnKor members.
EnKor is proud to be launching two new original pieces composed especially for EnKor by one of its own members, Stephen Ferrito.
One of the new pieces is the Celtic sounding I couldn’t see the light. Sung by one of the choir’s Irish members, and accompanied by the new violinist and the composer himself on the guitar, a real Celtic atmosphere is created.
The second piece is called Gloria, which is composed in New Age style. Starting off with the male singers, sounding like monks, accompanied only by a background of strings, the composition then builds up and the clear voice of a soloist, combined with the beautiful sounds of a classic soprano, can be heard – with the whole choir joining in towards the end.
Apart from these two new compositions, EnKor, under the direction of Johanna van Lent-Singels, will also be performing a selection of its versatile repertoire varying from classical pieces like King All Glorious and Händel’s Hallelujah Chorus to its ever-popular swinging gospels Oh Happy Day, Go Like Elijah and Get Together and also the traditional Maltese L-Imnarja.
The summer concert will be held in collaboration with Sliema local council at the Independence Garden, Sliema at 8.30pm on Tuesday, 11 July. For details of other forthcoming events, please visit www.enkor.tk
