The Astronomical Society of Malta will be holding two observation sessions in July.
Jupiter, the moon and other deep sky objects will be observed during the first session, Observing the Summer Night Sky, on 14 July at 9pm at Dingli Cliffs (near the Maddalena Chapel).
A Nature & Night Sky Watch, in collaboration with Nature Trust, will be held at Wied iz-Zurrieq Gardens on 28 July at 9pm.
Although the area is very popular during the day, it offers a beautiful setting for a dark night sky and for listening to the haunting cries of the Cory’s Shearwaters returning to their nests.
Members of Nature Trust will talk about the characteristics of Cory’s Shearwaters, while members of the Astronomical Society will set up equipment to help view the night sky.
People attending are advised to bring along telescopes or binoculars and warm clothing.
