San Giljan made a steadfast move towards the top four when they beat neighbour rivals Exiles with a three goal margin. Without a doubt, the proceedings of the first session had a large influence on the outcome of this encounter.

In fact the Saints had an evident psychological edge after the first session as they managed to open a remarkable 5-0 lead after these initial 8 minutes of play.

Exiles were passing through their best moment when they went on a four goal break to come 6-8 behind.

The game was however far from over as Exiles clawed back again to within two goals away, 8-10, with Silvis’ poker and a Timmy Sullivan diagonal shot.

The last session was very exciting with San Giljan having the better in the end.

Sirens did not find too much difficulty to register a further win in the league, following their fine performance against Sliema last week, when they faced modest Marsascala.

The champions were technically and physically superior but the southerners should be given merit for their never-say-die attitude even though faced with very tough opponents.

There was a 7 goal margin, 9-2, at the change of ends with Paul Privitera already grabbing his hat-trick whilst youngster Tyson Debono scored a brace. The greens had two goals from Paul Fava as Sirens replaced their regular custodian, veteran Joe Caruana Dingli, with substitute Alan Grech early in the second session.
