Once again, this has been a very successful year at the Table Tennis Academy with many of the students reaching high positions in the national competitions. The highlight of the season was the addition of Swedish coach Erik Nordlander to the Academy’s coaching team.

The fourth and final ranking tournament for this season at the Table Tennis Academy was held at the Royal Overseas Sports Centre in Valletta.

This tournament saw good performances from well established players, as well as from a number of new faces to the table tennis scene who have achieved good results following their progress in the coaching sessions offered at the Academy.

Stefan Grech, who gave a determined performance in the final match against Daniel Bajada, won the 3-Star Group and has now closed the season at the top of the Academy ranking list.

In the 2-Star Group, Malcolm Camilleri achieved first place with Daniel Portelli in runner up position. Last but not least Kurt Kind, followed by Julian Dimech as runner-up, headed the 1-Star Group.

This group has been enriched over the past months by many promising players who have just started off their table tennis adventure and who, under the guidance of the Academy coaches, will surely make an impact in the local scene.

As in previous years, this summer the Academy will be organising its Table Tennis Summer School held twice weekly during the summer months. All levels of players are invited to attend for these coaching sessions. Further details can be obtained through the Academy website www.tabletennisacademy.com.
