The booklet Yachting in Malta was launched yesterday by its editor Wilfred Sultana at the Casino di Venezia at Vittoriosa.
It is now in its seventh edition and this year’s publication coincides with the 30th anniversary since the first publication in 1976.
Addressing guests yesterday, Sultana said this edition is full of information from prestigious boating organisations.
He said it had been a pleasure to have worked with so many persons during the past 30 years. “It was when I worked at the Ministry of Tourism as a clerk typist that I realised that there were a lot of questions that remained unanswered. That is what prompted me to get going on this booklet, now in its seventh edition over 30 long years,” he said.
He thanked all those who have supported him throughout, especially those who still lend him their support today. He added he hoped the Ministry of Tourism and the Malta Tourism Authority will also find the booklet useful to create awareness of Malta’s boating facilities abroad.
Anton Valentino, president of the Malta Sailing Federation said his organisation also supported Sultana. “We are there not only to organise racing and other events, but also to promote the sport. We are very grateful to Wilfred for what he has done to the sport till today. We will certainly continue giving him our support in future,” he said.
