Maltese side Hibernians host Romanian opponents Dinamo Bucharest this evening in the qualifying round of the UEFA Cup, much aware that they face a daunting task in their bid to repeat the positive 0-0 draw against another Romanian side, Steaua in 1971.

The match kicks off at 9pm at Ta’ Qali national stadium.

Hibernians may find it tough against more experienced and very strong opponents who finished third in their domestic championship last season, especially when the Paolites are relying mainly on their young talents.

More experienced players such as David Camilleri as well as all three foreigners, Mbong, Williamson and Doda have left the club.

Instead, young promising players like Matthew Bartolo, Jonathan Caruana and Kevin Cassar have returned to the fold after ending their loan spell with other clubs.

Boosted by the return of ‘old’ face Ndubisi Chukunyere and by the fact that they have clinched the first local honour of the new season - the Euro Challenge Cup - Hibernians will try to obtain at least a respectable result at home today in view of the difficult return leg in a fortnight’s time.

New Dinamo coach Mircea Rednic is expected to make changes to his side after the club recruited several new players like striker Viorel, defenders Pascovici and Blay as well as midfielder Stanic this season.

Other Maltese side, Sliema Wanderers will also be in action against Romanian opponents from Bucharest - Rapid - this evening at 7.30pm local time.
