The first phase of the Wilkinson Sword Waterpolo league comes to an end tomorrow with the last two matches, reserved for the President’s Cup and the Ghaqda Kittieba Sports Cup.
The programme will start today with two matches were San Giljan will try to snatch the important point that assures them of the fourth place in the table, and a place amongst the elite in the Final Round of the tournament.
San Giljan should not fail against bottom placed Marsaxlokk, still in search of their first point of the campaign.
In the second match today Ta’ Xbiex will face Exiles, with the latter enjoying a two-point lead in the table.
Tomorrow’s matches will be the highlight of the programme, were Sliema will face Marsacala for the Ghaqda Kittieba Sports Cup, whilst in the final match of the first round, champions and leaders Sirens will face Neptunes for the President’s Cup.
It is to be noted that points shall be awarded according to the result obtained at the end of the statutory time.
However, both tomorrow’s encounters have to produce a winner and, therefore, should the result, at the end of the statutory time, end in a tie, after a break of five minutes, the match shall enter into extra time which shall be made up of two sessions of three minutes each with two minutes interval between session to allow the teams to changes sides.
If at the end of the extra-time, the result is still a tie, a five penalty shoot-out shall be taken to determine the winner. However, if at the end of the five penalty shoot-out the result is still a tie the same players shall then take alternate shots until one misses and the other scores.
