Sorry, all you guys who live in Valletta, you just don’t exist, or else you are out there in the middle of the Med.
The highly acclaimed world map service offered by Google has erased Malta from its maps.
Last week, users who logged onto www.maps.google.com and typed in “Valletta, Malta” were directed to a blank blue screen with a green arrow titled Malta pointing downwards. However, even though the screen was zoomed to the maximum limit allowed by the service, Malta was nowhere to be seen.
Various websites including www.theregister.co.uk noted that while Malta was actually found by Google Maps, Valletta was a submerged city as it was situated several metres away from the coast.
In an attempt to make light of the situation, www.theregister.co.uk pointed out that, “since you either don’t exist or are currently drowned, you can reasonably argue with the boss that the rest of the afternoon spent in front of a bottle of excellent red wine is in order”.
