Local band Corkskrew, winners of this year’s Best Band award at the 89.7 Bay Awards, are back on the road this summer with a number of gigs planned for the coming weeks.

The band will be performing live at the Rock arena during the X-fm Music Festival, which will be held on Sunday 23 July at Gianpula fields. The event will include five arenas featuring RnB, rock, ethnic, house and commercial music.

Corkskrew will also play live the following week at the Farsons Great Beer Festival. This is an annual appointment for Corkscrew and other local artistes who perform in front of thousands of beer and music lovers. The band will feature on the Rock stage on Sunday 30 July at 10pm.

Corkscrew’s next event will be a performance in Gozo, at the Sole Summer Festival Music Awards, which is being organised by Dynamic Promotions and will take place in Marsalforn on 19 August.

“The band is thrilled to be back performing live. We’ve spent the winter months coming up with new ideas and we look forward to meeting our fans during our gigs,” said Diane Micallef, Corkskrew’s vocalist.

The band also features Lincoln Spiteri on guitars, Franco Aloisio on drums and Rex on bass. They have released two CD albums – Micromania (2002) and No Ordinary Maybe (2004). More information may be obtained from Corkscrew’s website www.corkskrew.net.
