Snooker: Junior National teams win all their matches against Austria

The Malta Under 17 snooker national team opened its commitments against Austria by winning the firts two matches with an identical 7-2 score.

In the last game last Sunday, Malta beat Austria 8-1. In those three matches the Maltese players won 22 frames and lost five. For Malta, Thurston Grixti and Kevin Grech won eight frames each, Shawn Agius won four and Matthias Mallia won two. Paul Schopf won three frames for Austria while Manuel Urban won two frames. The other Austrian player was Maximilian Thurr.

Thurston Grixti’s 52 break was the highest in this international match, while Kevin Grech’s 49 break was the second highest.

The Malta Under 13 national team started with an impressive 8-1 win. In the second day Malta had the better of Austria by beating them 7-2, while on Sunday the Maltese won 4-2 in a six-frame match.In three matches Malta won 19 frames against Austria’s five.

The Malta team was composed of Wayne Pace, Shaun Sultana and Jonathan Attard who potted a 27 break.

The three Austrian players were Konstantin Hatvan, Bernhard Parik and Sebastian Kapps.

Both Maltese national teams, in the Under 17 and Under 13 categories, will be playing their return matches in Austria between the 10th and 13th of August.
