Prof. Lino Briguglio is currently visiting a number of Caribbean small states to conduct a consultation process on behalf of the Commonwealth Secretariat.
He forms part of a three-men delegation, which also includes a representative of the World Bank. During his visit, he will meet the Prime Minister of Barbados, Owen Arther and the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Denzil Douglas, as well as other high ranking officials.
The consultation exercise relates to a report that Prof. Briguglio has authored, together with Richard Stern, former vice president of the World Bank, regarding the strategy that small states should adopt in the face of the globalisation process.
The consultation process also relates to the establishment of a small states network, which was proposed by the government of Malta, and which will come up for discussion at the forthcoming small states forum to be held in Singapore in September 2006.
